OPPO wraps 5G Signaling Test with Snapdragon X50 Modem

It's been some time we have been hearing about the entry of 5G networks and Qualcomm announced their partnership with several OEMs to deliver 5G smartphones by 201According to Chinese sources, Oppo has reached experimental 5G speeds and has wrapped the signal tests and data links on a modified version of the R15, which was announced earlier this year.

In order to complete 5G Signal Tests, Oppo has used a modified version of the R15, which was equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem that can deliver a speed of up to 5Gbps. The tests were conducted on 3GPP Release 15 NSA standard with the 10 MHz bandwidth of 4G LTE Band 5 and 20 MHz bandwidth of 5G NR n78 band. According to Oppo, the modified variant promotes the maturity of 5G smartphones and it aids in launching the 5G smartphones in 2019.

It's worth mentioning that Oppo is the Chinese Android OEM to complete the 5G signaling and data links testing on a commercially available smartphone. Oppo however isn't alone and LG is partnering with Sprint to launch the 5G smartphones during the first half of 2019. Even Motorola has announced Moto Z3 will be available with an optional 5G Moto Mod that will be available in early 2019.
