Thuraya X5-Touch is the world's first satellite smartphone

Meet Thuraya X5-Touch, the world's first satellite Android smartphone launched by the company. If you think it as any other satellite phone, with a dull looking bulky device and huge antennas, then you're wrong. It's a sat phone that looks nothing like a normal smartphone but was given the modern treatment.

A UAE-based global satellite operator made the Thuraya X5-Touch and it is unveiled in Dubali. The handset runs on the Android Operating System, specifically Android Nougat 7.1. X5-Touch sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD display with a resolution of 16:9. The smartphone is powered by is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

It is fueled by a 3,800mAh battery and for camera, it packs 8MP rear sensor as well as  2MP front-facing camera for selfies. Thuraya X5-Touch comes with a Gorilla glass display and is IP67 water and dust resistant, besides the MIL-STD-810 certification which has the potential of withstanding extreme conditions. The handset is made for those users who work in harsh and remote conditions .

Besides the direct satellite access, Thuraya X5-Touch supports most 2G/3G/4G frequencies across the world and comes with WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou connectivity. This world's first satellite smartphone will be made available in 160 countries for £999.
